Join us for the third annual Great Lakes Flute Festival Saturday, February 22, 2024! Flute players and enthusiasts of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in our second festival held at Western Michigan University. Presenters, performers, and attendees will have wide-ranging opportunities to engage through networking, hands-on classes, workshops, and performances.

Calling all flutists! We invite you to share your unique talents and specialties at our third Great Lakes Flute Festival, held at Western Michigan University Kalamazoo, Michigan on February 22, 2025. The stage is open to diverse session formats, and we are especially eager to receive participatory proposals that incorporate audience engagement.
Whether you're a solo performer, part of an ensemble, or have an innovative workshop to share, this festival celebrates all aspects of flute music. We encourage you to showcase your expertise, engage the audience, and create a memorable experience together.
We humbly reflect on the incredible success of the second Great Lakes Flute Festival at Hope College which drew over 200 attendees. Now, as we eagerly anticipate the third annual event, we extend a warm invitation for you to join us and make it even more exceptional. Enduring Impact concert celebrates the life Darlene Dugan with a premier of a newly commissioned piece by Catherine McMichael for Darlene from her students and friends.
The memorial Concert will take place on May 5, at 5pm at Second Reformed Church in Zeeland, Michigan. (225 E. Central Ave, Zeeland, MI 49464).
A newly commissioned work by Catherine McMichael in honor of Darlene will be performed at this concert. We would like to invite Darlene's many friends, students, and coworkers to participate in the commissioning of this work. This three movement flute orchestra work will reflect aspects we all know and love about Darlene, while keeping with her Irish Heritage.
If you would like to be a part of Darlene Dugan's memorial commission, please consider participating with a donation to the West Michigan Flute Association. In the memo section please write, “Darlene Dugan Commission”. If you prefer to send a check, contact wmfaflute@gmail.comfor instructions.
A piece for lifelong friend of Darlene and the West Michigan Flute Association, Emily Brown, will also be premiered. This piece, by Dave Wells, celebrates the life of Emily Brown. You can participate in this commission in the same way.

The West Michigan Flute Association 2022 Youth Competition.
The recording session will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. Rehearsal and recording will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The concert will take place at Lawrence St. Park Amphitheater in Zeeland. Rehearsal will be held from 9:30-11:30 AM, with the concert starting at 12:00 PM. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the event in the shelter! Cake will be available as WMFA begins to celebrate its 30th year.
