2024 YOUTH COMPETITIONS and Events

The West Michigan Flute Association, in partnership with the Great Lakes Flute Festival, is introducing the Darlene Dugan Young Artist competition.
2024 Darlene Dugan Young Artist Competition (ages 18-25) is a live competition that will be held February 24, 2024 onsite at the Great Lakes Flute Festival this year.
Eligibility: We invite applications from flutists who will be at least 18 years of age and younger than 26 years of age at the time of the competition

Youth Masterclass And Recital
The West Michigan Flute Association, in partnership with the Great Lakes Flute Festival, is introducing a new masterclass competition.
2024 Masterclass Performers Competition (ages 18 and younger) a competition held via a submitted recording. Competition applications open September 1 and closes December 1, 2023. Selected winners will perform live in masterclass at the Great Lakes Flute Festival, February 24, 2024.
Eligibility: we invite applications from student flutists through the age of 17 on or before February 24, 2024

Required Repertoire
Darlene Dugan Young Artist Competition:
Preliminary Round Submission: 1 or 2 pieces that represent your playing. They do not need to be the piece(s) you will be performing.
Live Round: 2 contrasting pieces not more than 12 minutes in length.
2024 Masterclass and Recital
Preliminary Round Submission: 1 or 2 pieces that represent your playing. They do not need to be the piece(s) you will be performing.
Live Masterclass and/or Recital Performance: A piece of your choice not more than 8 minutes in length.
