Special Events

In addition to two annual concerts, other events show up on the calendar for ensembles for those who wish to play more!

National Flute Association

Preparing for the National Flute Association convention is a special time for WMFO. The NFA is an organization started by Mark Thomas, catering to thousands of flutists. Each year, the NFA presents a convention with an average 5,000 flutists in attendance. The NFA features presenters from all over the world. The West Michigan Flute Orchestra strives to perform every three years and has been invited to perform 7 times since 1997. It is always an honor to be a part of such a prominent association. Visit the National Flute Association website.

Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts

Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts takes place every summer, the first week-end in June. The even invites members and nonmembers alike to RSVP to rehearse for 3 hours, find a good lunch, and then perform on stage in the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

This concert tends to be all about fun. Toe-taping music is chosen, and the atmosphere is light for this concert.
