Flute Orchestra
The Flute
Orchestra, the first flute choir sponsored by WMFA, is composed
of 40-50 adult flutists who enjoy the opportunity to explore the
flute choir repertoire. Since it's inception 14 years ago, the
Orchestra has used c flutes, piccolos, alto and bass flutes. In the
2002 - 2003 season, after a very successful fundraising campaign, we
were privileged to add our Contrabass Flute to our Flute Family.
The Orchestra has been joined in the past by several excellent piano
accompanists, as well as string and percussion instrumentalists, and
has commissioned and performed the world premieres of several
exciting new compositions for flute choir.
Under the director of Founding Music Director Darlene Dugan, the
Flute Orchestra has performed at the National Flute Conventions in
Chicago, IL, Columbus, OH
and Nashville, TN to critical acclaim.
An
audition is required for all prospective members.

Chamber Choir
WMFA’s
Chamber Choir consists of 10 of its Flute Orchestra members who have
been selected by audition to perform more challenging music. The
smaller choir is also used to perform works that would be unsuitable
for the larger orchestra
If you
are interested in auditioning for the WMFA Chamber Choir,
please call Linda Spinella to arrange an audition time.
Auditions for this season were in August, 2005. Check back next
August, 2006.
Middle School and High School Choirs
The Middle School
Ensemble is our first of two groups expressly geared to developing young
flutists and giving them a unique ensemble experience. Led by founding
director Christy Kliewer, our Middle School Choir is the first step on our
young musicians' journey
The High School Ensemble, directed by Beth Koster, is our other group expressly geared to developing young flutists. In this next step on their musical journey our high school flutists have the opportunity to play not just their c flutes, but piccolos,
alto flutes and bass flutes as well.
No audition is required for these ensembles.
